About PMR & GCA
It is unlikely that you will have heard of Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) or the connected condition Giant Cell Arthritis (GCA) unless you or someone you know is suffering from them.
The cause of both conditions is not known; PMR affects approximately 4 in 10,000 people each year, generally women over the age of 60. Women are three times more likely to be affected than men. GCA is even less common and also affects mainly women over the age of 60. GCA is very rare in people under the age of 60.
PMR-GCA North West is an established support group for anyone affected by these conditions including friends, family and professionals. The aim of the group is to give people the chance to compare notes and share experiences with others affected by PMR and GCA.
